Background
In 2011-2012, the Towns of Port au Port East and Port au Port West-Aguathuna-Felix Cove collaborated and formed one regional fire department, called the Port au Port Regional Volunteer Fire Department.
The department provides fire services to both Port au Port East and West and offers the outlying communities of Campbell’s Creek, Point au Mal, and Fox Island River fire services based on fee-for-service protocols.
The Port au Port Volunteer Fire Department is actively looking for new volunteers and currently consists of 12 firefighters. We provide the following services: Defensive/Offensive Firefighting in our area of responsibility and Vehicle Extrication for the entire Port au Port Peninsula, and have mutual aid agreements with the Lourdes and Cape St George Fire Departments.
